Online Policy via Zoom - dates

National Policy Programs offer two Policy Training Online via ZOOM programs.

1. Policy - The Basics (one day program)

This is a program for all those interested in policy, or working in policy, who wish to know more about policy. The course supports the research and analysis necessary to achieve good policy outcomes.This includes policy problem definition, formulation of outcomes, policy history, whole-of-government collaboration and citizen engagement and empowerment.

Our learning outcomes include:

  • Assist with basic policy data collection
  • Undertake relevant policy research
  • Dissect policy problems into basic tasks and activities
  • Understand the policy formulation process and the research used
  • Use vocabulary that is appropriate to both professional and stakeholder audiences

ZOOM Virtual Classroom

Our virtual classroom consists of a facilitator teaching the class to learners who are dialled in remotely to the class session. Presentation slides and other digital files can be presented during the training session using the Zoom platform and the learner may either focus on these resources or the facilitator.

To enable connection, you will require the following set-up:

  • Sufficient internet connection - Zoom is successful on a 4G network. Any network better than 4G will enhance the learner experience
  • A PC with a web-camera, microphone and the capacity to run the Zoom application to allow the facilitator to better interact with learners in the same manner as a traditional classroom, and
  • Sufficient sized monitor or screen

You must secure your place by going to the cart and paying to be enrolled.

Once enrolled you will be sent an invitation, the workbook, case readings and the zoom meeting number and password to join on the first morning. This information will be sent to you on the weekend before your class.

2. Advanced Policy (two day program)

This program is a comprehensive two-day interactive course covering the skills needed to formulate, advise and implement strategy policy outcomes. The course gives learners a better understanding of all aspects of the policy process including the processes by which policies are defined, developed, implemented and evaluated, the impact of the political system on policy making, and the importance of interma; and external constraints in achieving policy objectives.

Our learning outcomes include:

  • Gather and manage policy research and evidence using networking to lead consultation with other agencies, government, industry and citizens to determine policy direction
  •  Analyse policy problems using sophisticated information and data techniques to break down tasks into manageable parts in a systematic way
  • Formulate results-focused policy with implementation in mind from the outset
  • Deliver high impact persuasive policy messages appropriate to the political and policy context
  • Build monitoring, review and performance measures into public policy work
